am I greedy?
ByWhat am I?
That thought had occurred to me as I was surrounded by all these other trainers. You might know me as the ripped abs guy or the spartan style guy or whatever. Well I guess I am those things and I am not those things at the same time. Yes I know a significant amount about fat loss training but there is so much more to me as a trainer then that. I am more of an athlete then that as well. You see I want it all. Having ripped abs and defined shoulders is cool and all but I think training simply for vanity is kind of weak. I would say its akin to having a Ferrari that performs like a Ugo. I am into the performance as well as the looks. Now I am not involved in sports or martial arts any more so what does performance mean to me. I like being able to run fast, lift hard, lift longer and just be able to do what others cannot. Lets see when people look at fitness there are multiple facets; strength, speed, power, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, strength endurance, power endurance, and balance. And even in there there is multiple facets in each one. For
example flexibility in the hamstring is different then flexibility in the shoulder girdle etc.. I guess I want a physique that is prepared to go and not just for show. And prepared to go can mean just about anything. I
guess that would classify me as a physical culturist. I am in pursuit of physical excellence. I am greedy and I want it all. Is that too much to ask?

Nothing wrong with that type of greed Eric—I am a former fat kid who is big into functional training: bodywieght and kettlebell workouts I want to look and feel fit. Good luck with the RKC prep?

Hey,
I want to get ripped. People say I look being skinny. But I’m a girl, I haul bales around all time, and I get ripped and be rock hard, and look like a damn Navy Seal even though women aren’t allowed to be the best.

As the tone of your post suggest i’m you know that the answer is absolute not are you being greedy! I will not pass judgement on those who train only for ‘show’ as you put it, any training that is not anchor in the desire to improve funtionally is mere vanity. The human body is designed to work. Muscles and bones are made to overcome gravity and resistance. That is why they have the capacity and capabiliy to get stronger.
So, my stance is if the body was designed to perform and is endowed with these capabilies for improved performance, then it is not only right to train the body for performance, but it is honorable.
Are you greedy? By no means!! In my judgement, taking care of the body in respect of its purpose (that is, to perform) ranks up there with the highest callings of being a human being.
If you are being greedy, then I say more power to gluttony!

Eric, you have every right to be greedy! Some instructors just want all the clients for their money. But these instructors couldn’t even be the physical manifestation of what a client physical excellence nor fitness at the very least.
