Biggest Loser
ByAlright I am sitting here watching my recorded episode of The Biggest Loser TV show and a bunch of different thoughts came up in my head and I am not even finished watching the episode.
First they stressed “What you take away that you can use at home.” Now let me point out a couple things that some people “took away”. First they showed Danny using kettlebells on his own. What he took away was that terrible form is “ok” or “correct”. Maybe at a whopping 10lbs they won’t cause injury but when you start playing with heavier kettlebells (and a 400lb male should) its a whole different story. Seriously every time I see one of them using a kettlebell I either flinch because such atrocious form is painful for me to watch and at the same time I am infuriated that these people are being taught bad form in the first place and that millions of people are looking at this show thinking that is good form. If you can’t do proper form you can’t teach it. If you can’t teach it the people you show it to won’t be able to to do it. Cease and desist.
Next thing that was taken away. Amanda was in a gym fumbling about the machines in the gym not knowing what to do. So obviously she didn’t take away ANYTHING except for her thinking she should be using the machines. She shouldn’t be using machines and after all that time she should have some semblance of how to train.
Oh wait a minute maybe its because their programs are just a whole bunch of crap mixed together without any semblance of logic. Maybe because she was never shown proper form with free weights to begin with. With the RKC system we can get killer results with just 6 exercises. If you concentrate on those exercises you will know what to do. If you don’t have any kettlebells the hardstyle principals still apply to free weights. Pulling yourself down with your hips, keeping your abs and glutes tight and power breathing work whether you have kettlebells in front in the rack on your back with a barbell or even just body weight (probably the more appropriate one for people of that girth).
Third is I can see one contestant developing an eating disorder which is just as bad as over eating. Now yes her husband should be more supportive but at the same time she doesn’t have to pass it onto other people. When I did that body transformation I knew when to relax and when I had to be a man on a mission. Having a calorie surplus every once in awhile is actually beneficial to your metabolism setting you up for long term success. Also good for your head. The trick is to try to disconnect your emotions from food. Its just food. I enjoy food too but there is a time for relaxation and a time for being a man on a mission. Eat to live, not live to eat and at the same time you have to be able to enjoy life. If you are good 80% of the time you can be bad 20%…just don’t go crazy.
Well enough of that crap its time for the Ultimate Fighter…a show that has trainers that actually know their stuff

So they turned a 400 lb’er loose with a ten pound Kettlebell? Sounds like a major “face plant” opportunity to me. lol
Gotta say the first time I did a Kettlebell squat I could feel the pelvis go into correct alignment, and the muscles at the base of the spine working at differing points of the movement.
It felt like an awesome deep stretch… If biggest looser doesn’t succeed in either killing or seriously injuring their “weeble wobbles” first; I hope that some day some of them get to experience something like that.

The biggest loser is focused on losing fat as quickly as possible at the expense of losing muscle. If they spent more time with the free weights such as the Kettle Ball they could even lose more weight in the time they have.
