Eric Moss does not teach spin
BySo about a month ago I got a call on my cell in the early AM. A former co worker of mine who is a trainer and spin instructor in a corporate fitness center called me up in a bit of a panic because she was scheduled to go to the sunshine state over Thanksgiving. Her return flight would put her past her shift and had no one to cover it. She needed me to cover the morning shift since she wouldn’t be getting back till late afternoon. Since I am buying a house and getting married and all that fun stuff I agreed to it.
Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in.
Well working there one last time really reminded me why I had been so miserable in that place. As I sat there reading book about functional training for sports and how we need to be more movement based I look over my left shoulder and see a bunch of human hamsters running on their automated hamster wheels. I used to tell some of the more over weight clients I used to train when they were feeling self conscious that they shouldn’t worry. I used to say “Everyone is here for the same purpose. Self improvement.” I was wrong. The over weight people were there for self improvement. Most are there to kill time (as if life isn’t f’ing short enough).
and I just went on a tangent
Well someone asked me if I was going to run a spin class.
I said “I can run a different class.”
“Oh well we really would prefer a spin class.”
“I don’t teach spin. You are on your own.” The training school I come from produces some of the fittest, strongest and healthiest people in the world. It isn’t a common one either. They should have taken advantage of what I had offered them but they didn’t. I am not going to beg anybody to see the light of day. People seeking out the truth should eventually find it….and it isn’t spinning to “hits of the 90s” (btw if you are a dude and that is your idea of strength training you out to turn in your testes).
Yeah so Eric Moss does not teach spin. I never have. I never will. I don’t know how and my hunger for more training knowledge does not compel me to learn more. If you know me or ever meet me and I have turned in my RKC for a spin cert, strap me down, keep the crucifixes close and prepare to call an exorcist because some fiend will have inhabited my body.
I do not teach spin. I am an RKC and I prefer superior training methods to entertainment.
Is this the physique spinning aficionados are after?

Man and I thought spin was HIIT… Never met anyone who thought spin was strength training, more anaerobic and aerobic training, cardiovascular and such. Most of all though, I thought the people who did spin enjoy biking, which is hard to do outside when there is snow
I generally like your blog posts, this one seems a little infomercially, especially with the picture of someone who has clearly never done a spin class in their life. I know you were being facetious, but use some logic… in order to do class A one must use equipment type B. Therefore if someone is on equipments type B one must do class A! No. that’s ignorant.

how is it that this came off like an infomercial? am i selling something?
and having the right equipment or not the principles remain the same. i had 2 kettlebells with me that day. i planned on teaching a class of 9, the bulk of them using dumbbells because that is what was handy.
“in order to do class A one must use equipment type B. Therefore if someone is on equipments type B one must do class A! No. that’s ignorant.” and where is the logic there. i have no idea what the hell you just said

I recently last-minute subbed for a Cardio Kickbox instructor and had over half the class angrily walk out before I even started : ) Tried explaning I am not a kickboxer and therefore would not teach a kickboxing class. Told them we would be working hard and doing strength movements to help their kickboxing… then half again walked out. Must have been cause I said “hard work”!
I guess they would rather have no class than something different.
And to top it all off, the 6 who did stay had some of the the worst exercise form I have ever seen!
What can you do!?! : )

Steve if I remember correctly you are well versed in a form of Kung Fu. You would have been better qualified to teach that then whoever was teaching the class probably is.
I have had similar things happen to me. I like it better that way. It allows me to spend more time with the people that are eager to learn instead of wasting it with the mullets and sissies
what can I do? 100lb tgus, 106lb double tgu’s, 35 consecutive pullups, finished the 300 workout in 16mins and 10 seconds, pressed half my bodyweight with one hand, performed 32kg pistol squat and one legged press…all because I have not wasted my time with mullet crap like cardio kickboxing
the sick thing is in our lil RKC community…im average
