giving you what you need vs. what you want
ByFired up again
Alright so you may or may not know that I am on facebook. If you want to add me fine but be forewarned…I can’t stand sissy’s
Eric Moss

Create Your Badge which brings me to my point.
Someone decided they wanted to friend me on facebook. Their first message to me was “I want to have ripped abs like you.” Which in my head I am thinking “yeah you and 95% of the world” but I say something like “cool but you what are you willing to do to get them?” or something to that effect. He would try to pester me for advice on the chats which I don’t do.
Now if you are a friend of mine on facebook you will know that I post videos on there pretty frequently with titles like get ripped abs by using kettlebells or don’t go to the gym if you want ripped abs with free workout routines with the directions included. Videos like this one .
So he says to me this past week that he is going to start ab training despite my posts like don’t train abs train full body. I say
Why bother?
“because I want abs”
and you think training abs is going to get you abs? haven’t you seen any of my videos I post or my posts on how to get abs?
“oh i was just going to do crunches. I have tried to get abs for years but don’t have them”
crunches are for sissies and they don’t work as is evident in the Truth About Six Pack Abs. That tells me either your training program or your nutrition isn’t on target. Watch this free video.
“I don’t have any kettlebells”
buy them (duh!)
“I am sorry but I need to remove you from my friends”
(Good riddance. I have no tolerance for sissies.)
And why can’t I stand sissies? Because they look for any excuse not to accomplish their goals. See we call people who have no rhyme or reason to their programs mullets. Being a mullet is forgivable since not everybody is in the know but if you turn away from the truth because its the truth then I have no time for you. What I presented to him was a superior method of training. What he wished to continue to do was the same thing he had been doing for years which got him nowhere. Why continue to do it? Dumbasses!
So continue to play the I wish I had abs game but you aren’t ever going to win if you refuse to learn how to play. And if you aren’t in it to win it…don’t bother asking me for advice because I give you what you need to get you want you want. If that is too much…oh well.

I had to drop a quote, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Kettlebells seem to be the ultimate functional fitness tool. I’d guess that they’re infinately easier on the joints vs. gym type weight lifting and machines, while
more effectively employing connective tissue vs. isolation movements.
I also wonder what the effect is on “fast twitch” muscle tissue which we are more significantly subject to loose
as we age.
Would be interested to learn on your thoughts regarding interval cardio training. I percieve that doing hours upon
hours of steady state cardio is not an effective long term
strategy. Unless an individual is intent and preparing to
compete in such events.
Also interested in learning your thoughts on the topic of
yoga, power yoga, and/or stretching.

with the far reach of the internet i get people from all over following me. not sure how they find me (probably youtube) but its all good
kettlebells are awesome. i have yet to find a single more effective tool and when people whine about how expensive they are they aren’t really. compare it to the price of a treadmill or a bowflex and the kettlebell is a lot less expensive then those and if you ask me a hell of a lot more effective as well…when you use it right
both the ballistics and grinds that comprise the RKC system are awesome for the fast twitch muscle fibers. grinds are those exercises where you try to move it but its heavy enough to cause the movement to be slow. picture a heavy deadlift. ballistics are also good for the explosivness that benefits fast twitch muscle fibers. picture the olympic lifts…only these can be done for high reps because of how smooth the kettlbell allows these lifts to be
steady state cardio sucks for fat loss. if running a marathon is your goal then yeah it would be appropriate but not for much else. high intensity intervals can be used pretty effectively for fat loss. and try doing kettlebell swings or snatches for high reps…your heart will be beating out of your chest and you’ll be begging for mercy.
yoga is excellent for both recovery and flexibility but its not a complete program. just 1 part of it. remember with yoga its all about relaxing your body.
tension is strength, relaxation is flexibility. 2 different sides of the same coin. power yoga is just a marketing gimmick that runs away from what yoga is about.

Interesting thoughts; and like what you said about power yoga being a marketing gimick. I like doing some Sunrise Salutations, and have found some of Steve Ilg’s tips/approach to yoga interesting, if not helpful…being my goal is not to become a contortionist.
Thanks for speaking of ballistics and grinds. Stimulating
fast twitch fibers I’ve read releases HGH (Human Growth Horomone).
I tried out one of the routines you’d posted and really enjoyed the balancing aspect of being on one leg.
