I blame the parents
ByI heard somewhere that people are trying to pass a law that sais that fast food establishments should not be within a certain distance of a school yard. The reasoning is that “childhood obesity is at an all time high”. According to some of the stats I have read in Brian Grasso’s writings I am inclined to agree that the childhood obesity rate is frightening but who’s faults is it really?
Lets get something straight. Fast food chains are legitimate businesses not drug dealers and I don’t think its there faults.
Children are id driven which means they want what they want and aren’t inclined to be responsible. So who is supposed to be the super ego?
So who is it then? If you read the title you should know that I blame the parents. Parents listen up. If you are driving by a fast food place and the kid is screaming and carrying on about how they want a happy meal think to yourself “Who is in charge here?” If you are a responsible adult the answer is YOU. If a kid doesn’t want to eat what you have prepared for them then let them go to bed hungry. They will learn at some point. And don’t pretend you don’t know that processed food is CRAP because I don’t buy it. If you can’t take the kid screaming and carrying on you might know by now my slogan is “Stop being a damn sissy” That goes with training, that goes with life, that goes with just about everything.
Another part about obesity. Children are not moving around nearly as much as they used to. When I was a kid my days were spent catching frogs, playing Army, climbing trees, sandlot baseball, bike riding, skateboarding, cowboys and Indians (make that native americans since it is well known that they aren’t from India), cops and robbers, ninjas, finding snakes and turtles, sharpening sticks and more that I can’t think of at the moment. Yes I did have NIntendo and I played it but the majority of the time I spent with my friends being a kid. Now a days I think a lot of parents just sit there youngsters in front a playstation 3 just because they deem it easier and safer then letting them play outside. Yes it is easier just to have them mash buttons all day but you can probably tell by my writings what I think about laziness when it comes to this sort of thing but as far as safety is concerned it has dire consequences. Yeah your kid might not fall out of a tree and sprain their wrist playing video games but what you are doing is setting them up for a life time of sedentary behavior and we all know what the consequences are for that. So no it isn’t safer.
So to summarize. Parents if your kid wants to eat sh_t…don’t let them. Put them outside and let them be a kid. Stop being a sissy and hopefull your kid won’t grow up to be one. You have been warned.
