Nutrition

By

Alright so a short while ago someone had asked me about nutrition and I had explained to them I almost never talk about it even though its uber important in fat loss programming (of which I do know a thing or 2 about) because I am not a nutritionist.

Well I guess that’s ok that I am not a nutritionist because it forces me to not become narrow minded. I believe you should do what works well for you. If something works. Do it. If something doesn’t work…don’t do it.

duh

However having said that if you are doing something and there may be a better way it might be worth checking out. As you may or may not know I did a body transformation program a year or 3 back. At that time I was using a nutrition program called Macrobolic Nutrition. I still believe that Macrobolic Nutrition is great, particularly for body builders and world strongest men. It claims you can lose fat and build muscle at the same time, and for me it works. It’s downside is you have to be uber dedicated with that. Make sure all of your meals are planned ahead of time, keep the ratios consistent, set an alarm to remind you to eat etc. It is rather high carb in it’s philosophy which I discovered by body thrives on carbs…the right carbs though.

Somewhere along the line I kept hearing the Warrior Diet being mentioned which is a completely different philosophy. Instead of 5 meals in exactly the same carb/protein/fat ratio it is based around a controlled fast during the day and then a feast on healthy natural foods in the evening.

kind of counter culture isn’t it?

I currently follow the Warrior Diet because of how easy it is. Am I gaining muscle? No. Do I think I can put on muscle? No. But that isn’t really that important to me. Every once in awhile some fool goes on my youtube videos and says I need to work my legs more. I honestly don’t give 2 shits whether I am symetrical. My physique isn’t meant to impress judges whilst I parade around in shorts that are too short with brown paint on my skin. Right now I enjoy remaining lean and gaining strength. If I decide I want to put a little more muscle on I will go back to the macrobolic way of eating.

I do believe you have to eat according to your goals and according to what works for you. I thrive on carbs. I don’t care what nutrition gurus say my body needs them and in abundance. But hey another book peaked my interest and it makes sense too. Metabolic typing. This concept was brought to me by a nutritionist that went through the RKC at the same time as me. Essentially since all of our ancestors came from different parts of the world our bodies have evolved to require different kinds of nutrients in order to function optimally. An example of this would be an Eskimo would require a lot of fat in their diet because where they came up fat was in abundance. Carbs would be like a poison to them because there weren’t many where they are from. Islanders would thrive on carbs because where they are from fruits and things like that were in abundance. My own experience found this to be true. I am half Filipino (I know I look white and I am white…but I point at things with my lips) so the need for carbs is practically in my blood. Do you need that? Hell if I know. You can figure it out by clicking here. That should let you know what kind works for you.

Now also when selecting a diet…find out if it is based on science, whether it makes sense to you and whether you can stick to it. If you can’t stick to it its worthless. And if you can’t stick to it don’t whine about how fat you are. Find a different one.

I picked up a copy of Warrior Diet to check it out. I’m not so sure of some of the scientific stuff, but the reasoning seemed solid and plausible.

So far I’ve noticed increased energy, and feeling more focused and positive energy throughout the day. Weight loss aspect could really care less about in contrast to just feeling good.

But if it leans me up a bit, so much the better. :)

all you need to do is heavy deadlift, heavy squat, and heavy bench, and you will be a strong best with no limitations.
