the next action star
ByOne thing I loved as a kid and still do is action movies. There seemed nothing cooler then when you have the hero who is put into a seemingly impossible situation and overcomes the odds no matter what they might be. They always knew the coolest thing to say and always got the girl (and the girls were no dog either). One action star in particular always captured my imagination. He is now called the governator but at one point he was the Terminater, or John Matrix in Commando or he was Dutch in Predator or Douglas Quaid in Total Recall. As the years started to pile on he started edging away from movies and into politics leaving the throne to the big action star waiting for a new heir. So how is it that someone who isn’t a good actor became known as one of the greatest action stars (if not the greatest) of all time? One person said to him when they found out that he wanted to be a dramatic actor, “Arnold, just be yourself. Be Arnold the big strong guy and you’ll be a star.” And he was right. So it occured to me that the next great action star whoever it is was not being themselves. Who has the charisma from just being themselves? I didn’t think anybody. The other day I watched The Condemned starring pro wrestling superstar Stone Cold Steve Austin. Stone Cold isn’t a great actor. But then again he doesn’t need to be. He just needs to be a more badass version of himself and I believe the public will love him for it the way they did Arnold. Hell it worked for him in pro wrestling.
