the non beast
BySo yesterday one of my clients successfully completed a turkish getup using a 50lb dumbbell. I am not saying this necessarily to brag that I am a great coach or whatever but I am using this fact to illustrate a different kind of point. This client of mine was in fact a girl. She doesn’t look beastly by any means but looks athletic. She doesn’t shy away from challenges or say “nah I don’t want to do that. It is weird looking.” Most people look at me like I have 2 heads when I show them that move. It has now become one of her favorite exercises. It was actually her that requested trying to see just how much she can really do. So what can my lady comrades learn from this? Don’t be afraid of heavy weights. Plain and simple. And train for performance, health and strength and the looks will fall into place.
