Variety days on Enter the Kettlebell

By

Alright

So even though I enjoy writing different programs when it comes to fat loss since keeping to a quick pace seems to work out pretty well when it comes to pure strength training its a bit different. For one thing you have to keep it somewhat slow so you can stay fresh. Also since I have to oversee other people’s programs I thought I might let someone else take care of mine…for now at least just to keep my life simple. Since my goals are to pass the Beast Challenge hosted by Dragondoor and to score over 200 reps in the Secret Service Snatch test I opted to do the Enter the Kettlebell Rite of Passage Program. Since ETK has 2 days of variety I thought I might share some of the theories of what I do on them for my goals.

Turkish getups in the beginning of the heavy pistol day and obviously heavy pistols on the heavy pistol day. For me that involves anywhere from 24kg to over 32kgs depending on how I am feeling. On the other variety day which for me was yesterday (11/14) I did a higher volume of ipsi lateral pistol presses but with a light weight of 12kgs. Not sure what that is? It is the second exercise in this video. I got the idea instead of just doing a high volume of light pistols to add a light press at the top of the pistol after hearing Tom Phillips being interviewed in the Kettlebell Secrets calls. Reason being I am already doing a lot of heavy presses with the Rite of Passage and its in there to grease the groove and be very therapeutic while practicing the strength techniques ie tension, death grip etc.

I haven’t given this a long enough test run but I am sure it will help my presses…and of course my pistols.
